Device Selection and Escalation
This CAMP Heart Failure CME learning module focuses on mechanical circulatory support device selection and escalation for the advanced management of patients with heart failure. The expert faculty panel of Drs. Kapur, Garan, Hall and Kanwar discuss four important best-practice pearls from their experiences: i) counterpulsation vs. trans-valvular unloading; ii) optimizing RV afterload with an LV support device; iii) venting vs. unloading with VA-ECMO in dilated cardiomyopathy; and iv) optimizing pharmacology during Impella 5.5 support as a bridge to recovery.
