Chirag Bavishi, MD, MPH, FACC, FSCAI, an interventional and structural cardiologist at University of Missouri, presents a case of anterior STEMI with VT storm at the August 2023 CAMP case competition. The patient is a 75-year-old male who presented with cardiac arrest and anterior STEMI. He was emergently taken to the cath lab for primary PCI. The patient had mildly elevated LVEDP and borderline normal blood pressure, so Dr. Bavishi proceeded with PCI. When the patient experienced another Vfib and his blood pressure started to decline, Dr. Bavishi inserted and Impella CP® with SmartAssist® via right common femoral access. The patient received five shocks in the cath lab, but despite multiple VT/VF episodes his hemodynamics were stable with hemodynamic support from Impella CP. Dr. Bavishi shows several screenshots from the Impella console throughout support illustrating the hemodynamic benefits of support for this patient.
